Help us follow the example of our patron,
who loved you and the Church.

THE HOLY FAMILY OF JESUS, MARY, AND JOSEPH- Year A - 28December 2025
At the heart of Christmas season, the Church’s liturgy focusses on the family. The unconventional family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph opens up the broader question of families today. We must go beyond thinking of a ‘typical’ family made up of mum, dad and the kids. There are single parent families, blended families of various kinds, families with same-sex parents, multi-generational families and families without children. In addition, our families are often under threat from economic pressures, the influence of social media and domestic violence.
This is why Pope Leo XIII established the feast in 1893 - to defend Catholic family life challenged by the modern industrial society. Today’s feast is an opportunity to reflect together on our own Christian families. The example of Joseph and Mary in caring for Jesus and keeping him safe is a model of love and generous care that will inspire us, whatever our families may look like.

New Years Eve Prayer
God, as this year draws to an end, I look to you for guidance and rest.
Thank you for getting me through this year and being with me through the
difficult and stressful times, as well as the happiest ones. Help me to let go
of what I can’t change and find rest in you before the year ends. Amen.
New Years Day Prayer
Loving God, as this new year begins, I pray that you’ll be with me. I don’t
know what lies ahead, but I know that your Son who brought light into the
world can guide my steps. I pray that you’ll bless my family and friends, being
with them in their difficult times and the happy moments this year. Remind
them that they can look to you for guidance and strength. Amen.
Our parish is committed to the safety, wellbeing and human dignity of children, young people, and vulnerable people in our community.
